Androgynym 2015 - Cela Cie Productions - Nick Iway

Cela Cie Productions - Nick Iway (Director)

Androgynym the name of this movie has been shared about the Underground Indie Horror Circles the past few weeks/month and I heard nothing but praise about this movie saying it was something totally out of the box so was looking forward to finally viewing it ...

Nick writes, directs and stars in Androgynym as Nym a mob heavy in the day and a sexual addict at night trying to appease his hunger to climax, until 1 last job turns sour .... In the beginning some instances the movie plays out like Crank, full of good well played action scenes, then changes course completely, which makes the movie stand out.

It changes from a action thriller to a rather twisted and out there psychological horror with some haunting self mutilation scenes that will make a grown man cry.. Then out of the blue it has scenes like your in one of your favourite buddy movies as Nym befriends a pizza delivery guy called John (John Lauderbach), which makes it become really impressive as you start to feel like you can relate with both Nym and John as they bond over an Animated short film John has been working on as the movie progresses the bond between John and Nym becomes apparent and deeper, they both acted perfectly together from start to finish till the perfect finale in my eyes with a atmospheric soundtrack was paired perfectly....

Its quite hard to pin point what you would class Androgynym as in my eyes it teases a lot of movies Blue velvet being one of them with its eerie soundtrack and themes echoing through the movie then again the friendship between Nym and John throws a curveball into the movie, and all the horror and in some cases quite graphic footage you find yourself thinking maybe it shouldn't be in any category it stands a lone without having to be in any genre but will find itself perfectly upon release...

The animated movie itself clearly shows the feelings of Nym and mimics him throughout the movie and is fitting that it is played in-between the movie, the message it portrays echoes how Nym is trying to fit into society as someone different that no-one can accept, hopefully upon release this is included within the package itself as a bonus in its entirety because without it really they are not one.

Androgynym on the whole is such a beautiful movie and touches on so many subjects it will pull everyone into the movie so many scenes that I personally couldn't / wouldn't want to single it out as a thriller/horror as it is all of them and more but what I can say is that it was worth its running time indeed and you wont really hear me say that often ...

9.5/10
